Guwahati, 24th September, 2025: As part of the ongoing “Swachhata Hi Seva-2025” campaign, Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) organized a series of initiatives across its divisions to promote cleanliness, recycling and sustainable living. Activities were conducted at railway stations, offices, hospitals, workshops and colonies with enthusiastic involvement of railway officials.
According to an official statement given by Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer, the major highlight of the event was the ‘Waste-to-Art’ exhibition and sale held at Guwahati Railway Station. The event displayed innovative items created from recycled and upcycled materials, echoing the principles of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle (RRR). Special emphasis was given to creative upcycling of plastic waste. From everyday objects to decorative products, the exhibits showcased how discarded materials can be transformed into useful, aesthetic items. This initiative not only promoted innovative waste management but also inspired people to adopt eco-friendly lifestyles.
Additionally, a “Sale of Recycled Product” was organized at the Maligaon Colony Compost Plant of NFR. Compost manure produced from biodegradable waste at the plant was offered to residents. The sale aimed to raise awareness on composting and highlight how household organic waste can be converted into nutrient-rich manure beneficial for gardening and agriculture.
NFR has been observing the “Swachhata Hi Seva” campaign with cleanliness drives, awareness programmes, eco-friendly distributions and promotion of recycling practices. These continuous efforts reinforce NFR’s commitment to a cleaner, greener environment while motivating both employees and the public to share collective responsibility for sustainable living.
