Haflong, Sept 4: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), Haflong, celebrated Sri Sri Krishna Janmashtami and the 63rd Foundation Day of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad on Friday with a series of religious and devotional programmes at the VHP Parishad premises in Haflong.
The celebrations began at 6 am with a Prabhat Ferry from Sri Sri Jagannath Bari, followed by Jalpan from 8 am to 8.30 am and a Kirtan programme from 8.30 am to 9 am.
Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Dima Hasao Autonomous Council, Debolal Gorlosa, attended the foundation day celebration held on the auspicious occasion of Krishna Janmashtami. He joined the programme along with Dhriti Thaosen, MAC and President of BJP Dima Hasao; Dilip Deb Tripura, Dakshin Assam Satsang and Dharmachariya Pramukh; and Ram Singh, Varish Pracharak.
Speaking on the occasion, Gorlosa extended greetings to the people on Krishna Janmashtami and expressed hope for happiness, peace and prosperity for all.
A Dharmasabha was organised from 10.30 am to 1 pm, followed by Maha Prasad for devotees.
The celebration brought together devotees and members of the VHP and local community to mark the religious festival as well as the organisation's foundation day.
