Guwahati, 04th September, 2026:
The railway
track between Jamira in Assam and Bairabi in Mizoram on the Katakhal–Bairabi
section was affected by soil erosion near the track following heavy rainfall on
the evening of 3rd September 2026. N. F. Railway has commenced restoration work
at the site, while assessing the situation and closely monitoring the progress
of the restoration efforts. Approximately 70 metres of railway track, extending
up to 40 metres from the track centre, has been affected due to soil erosion.
There is no direct road access to the affected site, posing additional
challenges for restoration activities. Considering the site conditions and
accessibility constraints, the restoration work may take some time to complete.
As a result of this, few trains
have been cancelled and few short originated as follows:

on 04.09.2026 will be short originated from Hailakandi and will remain
cancelled between Sairang and Hailakandi
