Northeast
Frontier Railway (NFR) has completed the track linking works connecting
Jogighopa (JPZ) Railway Station yard with the Multi Modal Logistics Park (MMLP)
GCT siding in Assam, marking an important milestone in strengthening freight
logistics and multimodal connectivity in the Northeast Region.
The
Non-Interlocking (NI) work has been completed, paving the way for freight
trains to and from the MMLP to directly access the national railway network.
The completed connectivity includes links from Line No. 1 and Line No. 2 of Jogighopa
station towards the MMLP GCT, enabling smoother and more efficient freight
movement.
Strategically
located along the Brahmaputra River, Jogighopa MMLP is the first Multi Modal
Logistics Park in Assam, integrating road, rail, air and waterways to
facilitate seamless movement of goods and strengthen the region’s connectivity
with national and international markets.
The new rail
connectivity will further enhance the potential of Jogighopa MMLP as a major
logistics hub for the Northeast, supporting efficient supply chains and
facilitating movement of freight to markets across India and towards
neighbouring countries. Its strategic location also offers significant
potential to strengthen trade and commercial connectivity with Bhutan and other
neighbouring countries.
The MMLP is
equipped with modern logistics facilities including warehouses, railway siding,
cold storage, customs clearance house, yard facilities, workshops, petrol pumps
and truck parking, supporting integrated handling, storage and transportation
of cargo.
The enhanced rail
connectivity is expected to provide significant benefits to trade, industry and
logistics sectors by improving freight efficiency and supporting regional
economic growth. It will also strengthen the Northeast’s potential to emerge as
a strategic gateway for international trade and regional connectivity.
