Haflong, July 7: A coordination meeting on the proposed preliminary mineral exploration (G-3 Stage) to be carried out by the Geological Survey of India (GSI) at Langmeklu village under Umrangso was held on Tuesday at the Conference Hall of the District Commissioner's Office in Haflong.
The meeting was chaired by District Commissioner Smt. Gayatri Devidas Hyalinge, IAS, and was attended by Samsing Engti, Executive Member of the North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC), the Additional District Commissioner, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Headquarters), the Secretary (in-charge) of the Land Revenue Department of NCHAC, senior officials of the Geological Survey of India, along with the Gaonbura and representatives of Langmeklu village.
During the meeting, officials reviewed the proposed G-3 stage exploration work to be undertaken by the GSI at Langmeklu village. Discussions centred on the scope of the preliminary exploration, coordination among the concerned departments, and ensuring cooperation between government agencies and local stakeholders for the smooth implementation of the project.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for interaction with representatives of the village, enabling them to understand the proposed activities and raise concerns, while emphasizing coordinated efforts for the successful execution of the exploration work.
