Guwahati, June 5, 2026: Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Frontier Headquarters Guwahati (Assam), celebrated World Environment Day 2026 at its headquarters campus and all subordinate units.
On this occasion, a special programme was organized to promote the ambitious tree plantation campaign themed “Inspired by Nature, for Climate, for Our Future.” The event was led by Shri Sudhir Verma, Inspector General, Frontier Guwahati, and witnessed the participation of senior officers, personnel, their family members, Sandiksha family members and children. Addressing the gathering, the Inspector General encouraged everyone to contribute towards environmental conservation and emphasized the importance of working for the protection of nature every day.
During the campaign, around 200 saplings of ornamental, fruit-bearing, and medicinal species were planted within the headquarters campus at Sonapur, while a total of 10,000 saplings were planted across the entire Frontier area. As part of the celebrations, a painting competition was also organized for children of the Sandiksha family. Smt. Rani Anuradha, Regional President Sandiksha, highlighted the significance and importance of World Environment Day in her address. She also felicitated the children who secured first, second, and third positions in the painting competition.
Along with fulfilling its border security responsibilities, Sashastra Seema Bal remains committed to green initiatives and environmental conservation. The Force has consistently played an active role in protecting and promoting the environment in its areas of deployment.
