Guwahati, 19th June, 2026:
Shri Chetan
Kumar Shrivastava, General Manager, Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR)
accompanied by senior railway officials, undertook a detailed two-day
inspection of important railway infrastructure and operational facilities at
Agartala and Sekerkote Railway Stations in Tripura under the Lumding Division from
18th June 2026. During the inspection, the General Manager closely
reviewed track conditions, railway assets, passenger amenities and ongoing
developmental works. He also assessed the progress of various projects aimed at
enhancing operational efficiency, passenger convenience and rail connectivity
in the region.
A detailed
review of track maintenance standards, ballast condition, drainage systems,
bridges and other railway assets was carried out during the inspection. Such
inspections are particularly important in Tripura, where heavy rainfall and
challenging terrain necessitate continuous monitoring to ensure safe and
reliable train operations. At Agartala Railway Station, the General Manager
inspected passenger-centric facilities, including escalators, lifts and other
amenities, to assess the quality of services being provided to passengers. He
also reviewed the progress of railway electrification and other developmental
works aimed at enhancing passenger convenience, improving operational
efficiency and modernising railway infrastructure in the state.
During his
visit, Shri Shrivastava inspected the Agartala Coaching Depot and reviewed
coach maintenance, cleanliness, safety compliance and operational preparedness.
He also inspected the Running Room at Agartala, assessing accommodation,
hygiene standards and amenities provided to train operating crew while
emphasizing the importance of staff welfare in ensuring safe, efficient and
reliable train operations.
On the occasion, the General Manager also
inaugurated a new lift at Agartala Railway Station.
Tripura has
witnessed remarkable growth in rail connectivity since the introduction of
broad-gauge services to Agartala in 2016. Key initiatives such as the
Agartala–Akhaura International Rail Link, Narangi–Agartala Express and upcoming
Electric MEMU and Vande Bharat services are further strengthening connectivity,
improving passenger convenience and supporting the socio-economic development
of the state.
The inspection
reflects NFR’s continued focus on strengthening railway infrastructure,
enhancing passenger amenities and maintaining high standards of safety. Such
initiatives contribute to delivering reliable, efficient and passenger-friendly
railway services across Tripura and the Northeast region.
