Guwahati, 23rd June, 2026:
The Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS),
Northeast Frontier Circle, Kolkata, Shri Sumeet Singhal, has successfully
completed the statutory inspection of the newly constructed Broad Gauge (BG)
double-line sections between Katihar –Kuretha (11.06 Km) and Katihar – Sonaili
(16.215 km) in Katihar Division of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR). The
inspection was conducted from 17th June to 19th June,
2026.
The Commissioner of
Railway Safety (CRS) has authorized the operation of both passenger and goods
trains on the newly constructed double-line sections at a maximum permissible
speed of 110 kmph on the main line, following the successful completion of the
statutory inspection. The commissioning of these sections is expected to
improve train movement, enhance line capacity and provide greater operational
flexibility across the network.
These sections are as part of the Katihar – Kumedpur
and Katihar – Mukuria New Double Line Projects, which are aimed at enhancing
line capacity and improving operational efficiency in the region.
The commissioning of these double-line sections
marks another significant milestone in Northeast Frontier Railway's ongoing
efforts to strengthen railway infrastructure and provide more efficient, safe,
and reliable transportation services to passengers and freight customers.
Northeast Frontier Railway has appealed to the
public to remain vigilant near railway tracks and strictly avoid trespassing or
crossing tracks at unauthorized locations. Passengers and local residents are
advised to use only designated crossing points, as unauthorized track crossing
is not only punishable under the Railways Act but also poses serious risks to
personal safety and train operations.
