Guwahati, March 21: Sanjay Singhal, Director General of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), undertook a one-day visit to operational areas under Frontier Guwahati and Tezpur to review election preparedness and border management.
He was received at the airport by Sudhir Verma, Inspector General, Frontier Guwahati. Later, at the Sector Headquarters in Rangia, he was accorded a ceremonial Guard of Honour.
Highlighting his commitment to environmental conservation, Singhal planted a sapling at the headquarters premises. He also held a meeting with SSB nodal officers deployed for the upcoming elections, including Adhoc Commandants, District Coordination Officers, and Company Commanders, issuing directives to ensure free, fair, and peaceful polling across the state.
During the visit, the DG interacted with personnel deployed on election duty and reviewed operational arrangements. He inspected the Darranga–Samdrup Jongkhar trade route, where he met officials from Bhutan and local administration to assess the functioning of the transit corridor and ensure its smooth operation.
Subsequently, the DG visited Udalguri, where he interacted with troops and officers deployed on election duty and reviewed law and order as well as election preparedness in coordination with district Superintendents of Police.
Inspector General Sudhir Verma expressed gratitude to the Director General for his visit and valuable guidance to personnel in the field.
