NFR achieved a 29.3% rise in freight loading


 

Guwahati, 06 December: Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) is tirelessly working round the clock to serve its customers and ensure the prompt delivery of essential commodities to end users. During the month of November 2025, NFR achieved a total freight loading of 0.908 million tonnes (MT), marking a 29.3% increase over the corresponding period of the previous year. Cumulatively, up to November of the current fiscal, NFR loaded 7.298 million tonnes, surpassing last year’s achievement of 6.851 million tonnes and registering a growth of 6.5%. 

According to an official statement given by Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, Chief Public Relations officer, in November 2025, several commodities witnessed significant growth compared to the same month last year. Cement loading surged dramatically by 405.3%, while fertilizer loading rose by 242.9%. Dolomite loading saw an increase of 99.1% and coal loading recorded a substantial jump of 460%.  In the “Others” segment, stone chips showed a remarkable increase of 158.8% and bamboo loading improved by 55%, indicating higher demand and movement of construction related materials across the region.

The consistent growth in freight loading reflects the rising economic activity in the region. This upward trend has not only strengthened the region’s economic landscape but also contributed significantly to NFR’s revenue. Moving forward, NFR remains committed to technical advancements aimed at enhancing service reliability and efficiency, ensuring sustained growth in freight transportation.
