Comprehensive Review Meeting Held at NCHAC Secretariat
Haflong, December 2: Minister of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary, Fisheries, and PWD (PMGSY), Krishnendu Paul, along with Minister of Sports & Youth Affairs, Smt. Nandita Gorlosa, chaired a comprehensive review meeting at the CEM Conference Hall in the NCHAC Secretariat.
The meeting brought together senior officials and representatives from the Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary, PWD PMGSY, and NHAI departments.
During the session, District Fishery Development Officer Chatra Pator presented the current status of fisheries development in the district. The PWD PMGSY team reported that 116.46 km of proposed road connectivity for 2025–26 has reached 90% completion of the Detailed Project Report (DPR).
Minister Paul emphasized the significant potential of animal husbandry in the district and instructed the veterinary team to prepare a proposal for official recognition of the distinct Mithun species found in Dima Hasao, which is unique compared to those in other northeastern states.
The NHAI team provided an update on the East-West Corridor highway project, noting that most stretches will be ready for vehicle movement soon, though some segments will remain two-lane instead of four-lane. The meeting concluded with directives to expedite the completion of ongoing projects, enhance interdepartmental coordination, and submit proposals to higher authorities to ensure timely implementation.
The meeting was attended by Bijoy Malakar, MLA Ratabari; CEM in charge Donpainon Thaosen; Dhriti Thaosen, President BJP Dima Hasao; Executive Members and MACs of NCHAC; Principal Secretary (N) Rajit Karigapsa; Joint Secretary Rebecca Changsan; Director of Fisheries Gauri Sarkar Das, ACS; Director of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Dr. Jayanta Kumar Goswami; ADC Dima Hasao Sangeeta Devi, ACS; among other senior officials and staff.
