Guwahati, 20 November: Shri Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, General Manager of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) conducted an inspection of Kamakhyaguri & New Coochbehar Railway Stations in West Bengal on 19th November, 2025. He was accompanied by Sri Devendra Singh, Divisional Railway Manager, Alipurduar Division along with senior officials from NFR Headquarters and Alipurduar Division.
According to an official statement given by Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer, at Kamakhyaguri, the General Manager inspected all the three platforms, the 12-metre wide Foot Over Bridge, lifts, both-side circulating areas, waiting halls, lounge, passenger amenities, parking area, Station Master’s Room and ticket counters. The inspection focused on improvements in passenger amenities, passenger safety, cleanliness and overall asset upkeep. A meeting was also held with representatives of the local MP, MLA, business organisations and public interest groups, followed by an interaction with the media.
At New Coochbehar station, the General Manager reviewed key operational and passenger related facilities, including the Station Superintendent and Station Master’s panel, combined crew lobby, crew running room, waiting halls, retiring room and dormitory alongwith the circulating area of the station. The inspection focused on assessing the quality of amenities and ensuring that passenger centric infrastructure is maintained efficiently and in line with operational requirements.
The inspection across both stations aimed at strengthening service delivery, improving operational efficiency and further enhancing the overall travel experience for passengers of NFR. The redevelopment of Kamakhyaguri station under ABSS reflects Indian Railways’ commitment towards enhanced travel experience and modern infrastructure facilities.
