ISF Submits List of Deserving Students to N C Hills Autonomous Council, Warns of Protest

Haflong November 21 : In a follow-up to their discussion with the Principal Secretary of the North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council on November 13, the Indigenous Students’ Forum (ISF) today submitted a list of 182 deserving students from the district who secured 39 marks and above in the recent B.Ed entrance examination but have been denied admission. The list notably includes several candidates who scored as high as 67 marks and above.

The submission comes after the Principal Secretary acknowledged that candidates with scores as low as 39 marks were admitted through recommendations, while many local students with higher scores were left out. ISF presented the list upon request, urging the Council to take corrective action within seven days.

ISF stated that if the Council persists in its adamant stance against the deserving students, they will be compelled to organize a gherao of the Council office, road blockades, or even a bandh to amplify their demand for justice.

The ISF emphasized the urgent need for transparency and fairness in the admission process to ensure that meritorious local students are not unjustly deprived of educational opportunities. The community awaits the Council's response as the seven-day deadline approaches.
