Amrit Bharat Express: Affordable Modern Travel for Every Passenger

Guwahati, 21st September, 2025: Indian Railways has launched the Amrit Bharat Express, a new generation of trains that promise affordability combined with state-of-the-art facilities. Designed indigenously with a strong focus on passenger comfort and convenience, these trains reflect the nation’s aspirations for progress and inclusivity. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier announced this category of trains, emphasizing modern amenities at affordable fares for the common man.

According to an official statement given by Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer, a total of 11 Amrit Bharat Express trains have been introduced across different routes of the Indian Railway network. Under the jurisdiction of N.F. Railway, a new weekly service between Erode and Jogbani will commence from 25th September, 2025. Train No. 16601 (Erode–Jogbani) will depart Erode every Thursday at 08:10 hours and reach Jogbani at 19:00 hours on Saturday. In the return direction, Train No. 16602 (Jogbani–Erode) will leave Jogbani every Sunday at 15:15 hours and arrive at Erode at 07:20 hours on Wednesday, beginning from 28th September, 2025. The inaugural run was flagged off by the Hon’ble Prime Minister on 15th September, 2025.

Each train is equipped with advanced safety measures such as Kavach anti-collision technology, modern braking systems, and improved suspension. Coaches are designed with automatic doors, bio-vacuum toilets, mobile charging points, CCTV surveillance, smoke/fire detection, LED lighting, modular toilets, GPS-based passenger information, and enhanced seating. The use of push-pull technology with engines at both ends reduces travel time by avoiding long halts. Enhanced insulation and energy-efficient equipment also ensure quieter and more comfortable journeys.

With a top speed of 130 kmph, the Amrit Bharat Express can cover around 1,000 kilometres at just Rs. 450, providing passengers with a safe, efficient, and affordable travel experience.
